Walk/Roll Penfield

Our Goal

Color Penfield Green advocates for actions that reduce emissions and support non-drivers, including: 
  • Reducing vehicle miles driven 
  • Assisting bicyclists to be safe and climb the ladder of confidence and usage
  • Helping non-drivers access fundamental needs 

Benefits to Reducing Car-Use:

Consider "Is it possible to walk/roll/bike safely to my destination?" before getting in your car.

Walk/Roll Penfield Initiatives

1 / Sidewalk Requests
  • Each year, the Town of Penfield compiles requests for new sidewalks. We share our priorities: 
    • improving connectivity and safer road design for disadvantaged community neighborhoods
    • building out safe east/west corridors
    • aligning our efforts with the Monroe County Active Transportation Plan
    • helping students access schools and parks safely
2 / Supporting Reconnect Rochester's Campaign: Rethinking Empire Boulevard: A Multimodal Future
  • We partnered with Color Irondequoit Green and Color Webster Green to reach out to our town, county, and state elected officials to ask them to support the redesign of Empire Blvd
3 / Participated in the development of the Penfield Active Transportation Plan of 2025 
  • advocated for safer, well connected sidewalks and bike lanes & trails​
4 / Participate in community feedback sessions for local development: 
  • 286/Browncroft Rd Rejuvenation
  • Multi-use trails for Shadow Pines
  • supported Willow Pond Neighbors in their efforts to improve safety and walkability/bike-ability
