The US has the technology to decarbonize by 2035. Here’s a plan to do it.
By Allen Hibner: Back on August 8th, I posted an article in this blog called, "Rewiring America - A Field Manual for the Climate Fight" by Saul Griffith (read that article here). Recently, I listened to a podcast from Ezra Klein of Vox where he interviewed Saul Griffith extensively about his plan to decarbonize America while creating 25 million new jobs.
Below is a little "teaser" of the opening of their conversation. I think that you will find that it is well worth an hour or so of your time to listen to the entire podcast here. If you have been (and we hope you will continue to do so) following my "Our-Big-Beautiful-Green-ALL-ELECTRIC-Life" blog series, you know that I am a believer in converting all of my home and auto systems to electricity as fast as I can. Saul Griffith gives voice to those aspirations. Enjoy the podcast...

You say it’s possible to keep America on the 1.5 degree warming path, cut 70 to 80 percent of emissions by 2035, and that we don’t need any new technologies to do it. How do we do that?
Saul Griffith
The short answer is we need to electrify nearly everything. The longer answer is we have to have a massive wartime type mobilization of industry.
Ezra Klein
Why is electrifying everything the answer?
Saul Griffith
We need to decarbonize very quickly. Climate change could make the current crisis we have look paltry, which is a sobering thought.
